The Golfography

In a sea of golf events, golf tournaments, and golf parties, it is difficult to create something that truly stands out as unique. Having seen just about every type of event that golf can imagine, I have the fortunate perspective to justify when something is truly special in the game of golf. The Golfography is that type of experience.

The uniqueness of The Golfography became apparent to us after the initial experience at Ram’s Hill. With every participant involved in the event raving about the event, word spread quickly across the inter-webs and we knew that we had to recreate the magic and bring it to golf courses across the country.

Next up on the docket to receive the Golfography treatment is the critically acclaimed Indian Wells Golf Resort in Palm Springs California. On March 28th and 29th, Indian Wells will open its doors and a team of eager golfers and photographers will descend onto this world class golf canvas. The date for the experience is perfectly situated right between Coachella and the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament. Palm Springs is in full swing and 36 holes of outstanding golf over 2 days await those that join The Golfography crew.

You don’t have to be any sort of official photographer to join The Golfography. The only real requirement is a passion for golf and the desire to enjoy a good time. If you like to golf party, consider this your official invitation.

The Golfography has one of golf’s finest photographers joining us in Ollie Neglerio. Ollie is the lead content creator at Taylor Made Golf and perhaps the most knowledgable guy that I know when it comes to photography equipment. He also photographs Rors and Tiger on the reg.

UPDATE: New special guest appearance from Instagram superstar Katie Kearney. Not only is Katie one of golf’s greatest beauties, but she has also been appointed the position of Chief Fun Officer. If at any point, you aren’t having the time of your life, just consult with Katie and she will sort things out.

Between Katie, Ollie, Channing, myself, and the Indian Wells Golf Resort, we have you covered with customized photography instruction, top notch golf, and good times. PGA Show 2016

As a newcomer to the PGA Merchandise show in 2016, I was excited to meet many of the golf industry folks that I had conversed with over the internet for some time.  Although, my time at the show was brief, I thoroughly enjoyed meeting many of the passionate folks that work in the golf industry.  For the trip, I had teamed up with fellow golf enthusiast and blogger, Sean Ogle of Breaking Eighty.  Like any sensible businessman, I packed my golf clubs and business cards and headed out to Orlando.  First up would be the golf, then the business of golf.

My first ever round of golf in Florida would be on the challenging Blue Monster Course at Doral.  As you can see in the photo, there was a little bit of wind to contend with.  Fortunately, the wind would die down and I would roll in my first Florida birdie on the 17th hole.  

After hitting the scene in Miami Beach and visiting the 14th best bar in the world, The Broken Shaker, we got up early to play golf at Adios Golf Club.  Adios is a private establishment that is more well known for it's club than it's course.  Although, both are top notch.  Sean and I would agree that Adios was one of our favorite golfing experiences to date.

Our trip was indeed building up some steam as we headed to the airport to pick up Ashley Mayo of Golf Digest.  The next morning our power trio would go for 36 at Streamsong.  Click on the images below for the exclusive "By the Numbers" recap.

With the golf in our rear view mirror, it was time to set our sights on the PGA Merchandise Show's Demo Day.  Demo Day is hosted on a 360 degree driving range at the Orange County National Golf Center.  With just about every golf vendor in attendance, you can hit the latest sticks with the latest gadgets until your arms fall off.  Here is what we found.

With Demo Day in the books, Sean and I got serious and headed over to Orlando's finest miniature golf facility, Pirate's Cove, to round out a solid day.  Check out the pirate video recap below.  

For day 2, it was time to head over to the convention center and check out the scene.  Orange County convention center is massive and we had some serious talking and walking to do.  Here is the best of what we found.

Someone asked me the other day if I would play golf every day if I had the necessary time and resources.  I found this question to be ironic as I often use the hashtag #18_365 in my Instagram posts.  The hashtag stands for 18 holes a day, 365 days a year, a concept created by Adidas Golf  to be a rally cry for golfers who don’t let weather stand in their way of the game they love. 

My answer to this question was that I would absolutely play golf every day of the year.  Let's break this down real quick.  Starting with the holidays...  I can always get up early and play on Christmas, and the course is usually wide open on Thanksgiving.  However, I might have to play in the dark on my anniversary and the wife's birthday.  Then there is the issue of weather.  Even here in Seattle, I would get around 201 days with no measurable precipitation, so those are easy.  

But what about the days when mother nature gets nasty?  What would I do on those days?  The answer is simple... I would play in the rain, I would play in the snow, I would play in the wind, I would play in the heat, and then I would play in the rain some more.  Even if no one else will play, I will.

They make golf umbrellas, they make rain pants, and rain gloves, There is even Clima Heat and Clima Cool for taking on blizzards or the Arizona desert in July. 

In conclusion, sign me up for the unlimited time and resources to play unlimited golf!  In the meantime, I will just play when I get the chance, even if no one else will.
